Finance: quotes, charts, markets and your watchlist
On this page
Finance is the part of 4Search for following money and markets. You can look up a stock, fund, index, currency or coin, see its price and chart, read the news written about it, and scan the day's biggest movers, the economy and what traders expect next.
Finance is available on 4Search and 4Conservative.
#What a Finance page looks like
Every Finance page has the same frame. At the top is the site's search box, changed to search for companies, funds, coins, currencies and financial news. Under it is a strip of market gauges, and under that is the row of Finance sections.
The top of every Finance page. Select a section to move around; select a gauge in the strip to open its page.
- 1Search for a company, fund, coin or financial news
- 2The Finance tab
- 3The market strip: major indexes and a few other gauges
- 4Finance sections
- The market strip shows the main U.S. indexes, the volatility index, the 10-year Treasury yield, oil, gold, bitcoin and the euro, each with a small chart for the day. It slides sideways when it does not fit.
- The section bar takes you to the overview, the lists, the economy, earnings, topics, your watchlist and the comparison page.
- The Finance tab in the row of service tabs stays selected on every Finance page.

#Where the numbers come from
Each kind of number comes from a different place, and the note at the bottom of a card says which.
- Prices, charts and the key statistics come from public market-data sources. They can be delayed by up to 15 minutes, and a few foreign exchanges lag longer. See How fresh the data is.
- Financial statements and filings come from the reports companies file with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
- Inflation, jobs, interest rates and growth come from the official U.S. agencies that publish them.
- News, the count of articles about a company and their sentiment come from the 4Search news index, the same index that powers News search.
- Odds come from prediction markets, where traders put prices on what will happen. They are traders' prices, not forecasts by 4Search.
- What a fund holds comes from the fund companies' own daily holdings files.
- Apple's page: price, chart, statistics, analysts and news
- Today's market movers
- The S&P 500: an index has a page too
- The U.S. economy
- This week's earnings

Yes. You do not need an account to use it.
Can I buy or sell stocks here?
No. Finance shows prices, charts and news. It does not trade, hold money or connect to a broker.
Does Finance work on a phone?
Yes. Tables and tab rows slide sideways, and the chart fits the screen. See Finance on a phone.
Why does a price here differ from my broker's?
Prices on Finance may be delayed by up to 15 minutes, so they can differ from a live trading screen. See How fresh the data is.
Which sites have Finance?
It is on 4Search and 4Conservative. The other sites in the 4 Network do not have it.
